Dr. Steven Koerner, DO
Dr. Koerner is a Fellow of the American College of Osteopathic Internists and Board Certified in Gastroenterology and Internal Medicine. He has been practicing in the Manahawkin, NJ area since 1994. He completed his undergraduate degree in Nutritional Biochemistry at Cornell University. He received his medical degree from the University of Health Sciences/College of Osteopathic Medicine in Missouri. He completed his Internship, Residency, and Fellowship at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. His areas of interest include: capsule endoscopy, colonoscopy, upper endoscopy, ERCP, inflammatory bowel disease, liver disease, swallowing disorders, hemorrhoidal banding, and integrative gastroenterology. He is the current Chief of Gastroenterology and past president of the medical staff at Southern Ocean Medical Center.
Dr. Kamlesh Shah, MD
Kamlesh "Kam" Shah, MD, FACG, is board-certified in gastroenterology with nearly 13 years of gastroenterology experience as an attending physician.
Dr. Shah obtained a bachelor of arts degree with honors double majoring in the biological sciences and economics from Rutgers College, Rutgers University in New Brunswick, NJ in 1995. He received his medical education at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in Piscataway, NJ and earned his medical degree in 1999. Dr. Shah completed an internal medicine internship and residency at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, PA in 2002, followed by a three year gastroenterology fellowship at Graduate Hospital, an affiliate of Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia, PA in 2005. He then pursued and completed an advanced endoscopy followship and served as an instructor of medicine at Durham VA Medical Center and Duke University Medical Center in Durham, NC in 2006 conducting research on interventional endoscopic procedures, attaining expertise in interventional procedures, and teaching gastroenterology fellows endoscopic procedure skills.
Dr. Shah is affiliated with and has privileges at Southern Ocean Medical Center in Manahawkin, NJ. Kam can perform procedures and offer consultations at that hospital, in the main office in Manahawkin, and also has privileges to perform endoscopic cases at Toms River Surgery Center in Toms River, NJ.
He is a member of the Medical Executive Committee at Toms River Surgery Center. As a dedicated professional with the intent to stay attuned to the latest in gastroenterology, Dr. Shah is an active member and a Fellow of the American College of Gastroenterology (ACG), a member of the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE), and a member of the American Gastroenterological Association (AGA). Dr. Shah provides care for a variety of digestive tract disorders. These include but are not limited to, difficulty swallowing, acid reflux, gallbladder disease, liver disease, abdominal pain, diarrhea, constipation, inflammatory bowel disease, irritable bowel syndrome, treatment of hemorrhoids (including hemorrhoid banding) and fecal incontinence.
In his spare time, Dr. Shah enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, exercising, photography and has plans on obtaining a pilot's license.
Dr. Frederic Dewil, MD
Dr. Dewil is a Fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians. He is board certified in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Medicine, Critical Care Medicine, and Sleep Medicine. He received his medical degree from the State University of New York at Stony Brook and then underwent his Internship and Residency training at the Bronx Municipal Hospital Center and Albert Einstein Hospital. He then trained at Bellevue Hospital Center/NYU Medical Center in Manhattan for his Pulmonary and Critical Care Fellowships. He is taking new patients with pulmonary and sleep medicine problems as well as patients who need a general internist. His interests include all aspects of lung disease and sleep medicine such as treatment of asthma, COPD, snoring, and sleep apnea. He is able to perform pulmonary function testing as well as diagnostic bronchoscopy.
Dr. William Reed, DO
Dr. Reed is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiologists and is board certified in Cardiology. He has been practicing in the Manahawkin, NJ area since 1996. He received his medical degree from the University of Osteopathic Medicine and Health Sciences in Iowa. He performed his Internship at Metropolitan Hospital – Parkview Division in Pennsylvania.He completed residency at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. He completed a Fellowship in adult cardiology at Deborah Heart and Lung Center of New Jersey. His areas of interest include: clinical cardiology, cardiac stress tests, echocardiography, abnormal heart rhythms and cardiac catheterization.
Dr. Helio Malinverni, MD
Dr. Malinverni is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology and is board certified in Cardiology, Nuclear Cardiology, and Internal Medicine. He has been practicing in the Manahawkin, NJ area since 1977. He received his medical degree from the Federal University of Santa Catarina in Brazil. His internship and residency were completed at Harrisburg Hospital and Hershey Medical Center in Pennsylvania. His fellowships were performed at Deborah Heart and Lung Center of New Jersey and Albert Einstein Medical Center in Pennsylvania. His areas of interest include: nuclear stress testing, echocardiography, electrocardiography, swan ganz catheters, transesophageal echocardiography, coronary CT angiography, and hypertension.
Dr. James Henry, MD
Dr. Henry is a fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians and is board certified in Emergency medicine. He has been practicing in the Manahawkin, NJ area since 1980. He received his medical degree from the University of Minnesota Medical School. He completed his internship and residency at the University of Minnesota Hospital.
Karen Kiss, NPC
Karen Kiss is a board certified adult nurse practitioner. She has been practicing in the Manahawkin, NJ area since 1998 as a nurse practitioner. She graduated from the University of Delaware and Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey. Megan Saia is a Physican Assistant (PA) who specializes in gastroenterology. She is a graduate of Lehigh University with a Bachelors of Science in Biology. She received her Masters of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from DeSales University graduating at the top of her class. She is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants. Her interests include: colorectal cancer prevention/screening, hemorrhoids (including hemorrhoidal banding), gastroesophageal reflux disease, liver disease, inflammatory bowel disease, and esophageal motility disorders. She also has a strong interest in nutrition and integrative medicine.
Stephanie Dolan, PAC
Stephanie Dolan, PA-C is a Board Certified Physician Assistant with the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA). Ms. Dolan first attended Penn State University where she attained her Bachelors of Science in Biobehavioral Health. She then went on to receive her Masters in Physician Assistant Studies at Philadelphia University in August 2015. She has a long-standing passion for gastroenterology and shares specific interests in GI bleeding disorders, gastroesophageal reflux disease, Barrett's esophagus, esophageal motility disorders, swallowing disorders, gastroparesis, peptic ulcer disease, celiac disease, small bowel disease, inflammatory bowel disease, diverticular disease, hemorrhoidal concerns (including hemorrhoid banding), and colorectal cancer prevention and screening.
In her spare time, she can be found watching or attending various sporting events with her husband from the collegiate to the professional level. Her loyalties mostly lie with teams from her alma mater, Penn State. She also enjoys time spent on the beach, cooking, reading, and entertaining for family and friends.
Dr. Neelam Gidwaney, MD
Dr. Neelam G. Gidwaney is a young, and energetic Gastroenterologist who is joining the Medical Associates of Ocean County. She completed her undergraduate degree at Binghamton University where she focused on Biology, Psychology, and Africana Studies. Dr. Gidwaney obtained her medical degree from Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, NY. She went on to complete her Internship, Residency, and Fellowship at Rutgers-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in New Brunswick, NJ.
Dr. Gidwaney is fluent in English, Spanish, Hindi, and Sindhi. Her areas of interest include upper endoscopy, colonoscopy, gastrointestinal reflux disease, nutrition, inflammatory bowel disease, hemorrhoids (including hemorrhoid banding), and liver diseases.
When Dr. Gidwaney is not working, she enjoys participating in medical missions, traveling, learning new languages, and painting.
Dr. Melissa Reynon, MD
Dr. Reynon is Board Certified in Gastroenterology and Internal Medicine. She has been practicing in the Manahawkin, NJ area since 2014.
She completed her undergraduate degree in Molecular Biology/Biochemistry at Rutgers University and was a Henry Rutgers Honors Scholar. She received her medical degree from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey – Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. She completed her Residency and Fellowship training at the UMDNJ – Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.
